Virginia was born to Levi E. and Mary E. (Carver) Green. She grew up in Valsetz, Oregon. During the depression, her family moved to Portland and she graduated from Lincoln High School in 1935. She returned to Valsetz after graduation and worked in the cook house.

Virginia met Alfred Stark, a logger, and they married in Salem November 25, 1939. Al was a logger until 1941. When WWII started, the couple moved to Portland. Virginia and Alfred found work in the shipyards. They also lived a short time in Boring, Oregon before coming to Sweet Home in 1950.

Virginia and Al started their family with the birth of their first daughter, Susan, in 1950, and then had second daughter, Candace.

In 2006, Virginia moved to Wynwood Assisted Living Facility in Albany to be close to family and have assistance.

Her loving husband and family always said that Virginia made the best pies.

Virginia is survived by daughters, Susan Brubaker of Albany and Candace Warren (husband, Matthew) of Albany; and grandson, Rodney Sargent.

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Al, who passed away July 13, 1987.
