Verna Mae Wodtli, 91, of Lowell, Oreogn, a long-time resident of Sweet Home, passed away Saturday, January 19, 2019 in Lowell after an extended illness. She was born in Carter, Wisconsin to George Lewis and Orabell (Serjeant) Pittsley.

She was raised and schooled in Upper Michigan until the age of 15, when she moved with her family to Sweet Home. She graduated from Sweet Home High School in 1945. After high school, she met and married John E. Wodtli. They built their first home on Fern Ridge on land John bought from his grandfather. They had two children, Gerald and Linda.

Verna worked most of her adult life doing accounting for various companies in the Sweet Home area.

Verna and John moved to a 50-acre farm in Holley in 1959. After retirement, John and Verna moved to property they bought in La Pine. After John’s death in 2000, Verna moved back to Sweet Home. In 2011, Verna moved to the Eugene area living in several retirement homes before moving to Lowell.

Verna is survived by her children, Dr. Gerald Wodtli and his wife, Shirley, of Pasco, Washington and Linda and her husband, Jack Coulter, of Lowell; grandchildren Richard and his wife, Mischa Johnston, of Eugene, Erin and her husband, Blake Moser, of Eugene, Jeremy and his wife, Shari Wodtli, of Pasco, Jill and her husband, Eric Little, of Pasco, and Cory Coulter of Waldport; sister Lou and her husband, Dean Melling, of Rohnert Park, California; six great-grandsons and six great-granddaughters; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John, parents, sister Jean Miller, and brother-in-law Howard Miller.

Services are planned for 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Sweet Home Funeral Chapel with burial immediately following at Gilliland Cemetery.
