Vera “Sue” Seiber
January 2, 1945 – November 15, 2023

Vera “Sue” Seiber, 78, of Sweet Home passed away November 15, 2023. She was born January 2, 1945 to John and Lavina (Clough) Counts.

Vera was born in Salem, while the family lived between Newberg and St. Paul. The family lived in many places as her father logged and drove log truck around Western Oregon. She went to first grade in Nehalem and lived in Ladd Hill, Newberg, Dayton, Sisters and finally moved to Sweet Home when she was in the 7th grade. With brief stops in California, Medford and Sheridan, she lived in Sweet Home for the rest of her life, where she met John T. Seiber, to whom she was married for over 33 years.

She was a housewife until her kids got older, then held various jobs as a waitress, cannery worker, and finally a printer repair person at HP, from which she retired around 2010. Vera was baptized at Holley Church in 2021, she attended there as often as her health allowed. She accepted Jesus as her Savior and rests with Him now.

Vera was an avid sports fan, attending sporting events throughout her life, especially those of her sons, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a great cook and was known for her fried chicken. Holiday meals were not complete without her scalloped potatoes and baked beans, always a family favorite over the years. She was an avid reader and knitted many gifts for her family.

She is survived by her sons, John Seiber and his wife Lori (Sweet Home) and Dan Seiber and his wife Tracey (Salem); her grandchildren Jessayln (Seiber) Sevier and her husband Gary (Sweet Home), Jeff Seiber (Eugene), and Maya Seiber and her partner Jack Draney (Princeton, NJ); her great granddaughters Aaliyah Brown and Kaylee Sevier, both of Sweet Home; sister Verna Schwab (Lebanon), and many, many uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews scattered around Oregon, Washington, California, Utah and Canada. She loved her family more than herself and was dedicated to them to the end. She is preceded in death by her father, John Counts and her mother Sarah Lavina Counts; brothers, Alfred Street, Gene Counts, Donny Counts, John A. Counts, and Larry Counts; and her sister Babe “Lois” Bettelyoun.
