Thelma Marie Garrett, 83, of Sweet Home passed away Friday. She was born in Zanesville, Ohio to Eugene and Elma (Hewitt) Barber. She moved to Lebanon in 1970 and lived in the home that her husband, Chester, built.

Thelma was a CNA (certified nursing assistant), but was also a great homemaker. The most important things in her life was her family and her grandchildren. She will be deeply missed.

She was a long time member of Jehovah’s Witnesses and had a very strong faith.

Thelma is survived by: her children, James Garrett of Prineville, Kenneth Garrett of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas, Linda Lamer of Jefferson, Nancy Golladay of Joplin, Missouri, Wanda Garrett Haak of Corvallis, Sherry Garrett of Puyallup, and Wayne Garrett, Richard Garrett and Darryl Garrett of Sweet Home; step-children, William Garrett of Redmond and Marjorie Garrett of Reno; sister, Dorothy Mero of Foley, Alabama; 39 grandchildren, 52 great grandchildren and seven great, great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by: her husband, Chester Garrett; step-son, Clayton Garrett; brother, LeRoy Barber; and one granddaughter.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 12, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Sweet Home.

Arrangements are under the direction of Sweet Home Funeral Chapel.
