Tanis Lynette Cockrell

Tanis Lynette Cockrell, 74, of Sweet Home, passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2025. She was born October 6, 1950 to John and Virginia (Handsone) Schappert in Los Angeles, California.

She came to Sweet Home from Lindale, Texas in the 1980’s. Tanis cherished time with family and friends. She had a special love for animals most recently being a devoted “Mom” to scruffy the cat and her cherished chihuahua Teddy.

Her favorite past times were knitting and embarking on road trips with family, family meant everything to her and she treasured moments spent with loved ones. She will be remembered for her kind heart, gentle spirit and unwavering love.

Tanis is survived by her sons: Jerry Cockrell of Lebanon, Brien Cockrell of Sweet Home, her daughter Jaime Rooney of Sweet Home; grandsons: Daniel, Hunter, Haiden, and Brenden Rooney, Caleb and Logan Cockrell; great grandson Thatcher Rooney; sisters: Tarin Schappert and Jenny Harp. She was preceded in death by her husband Jerry Cockrell; father Jack Schappert and mother Virginia (Handsone) Schappert.
