Roger Feigum peacefully passed away at home of natural causes on July 14, 2015.

Roger was born in Wilmont, South Dakota on Dec. 2, 1931. His family moved to Portland, Oregon, and then to Sweet Home when he was a teen. Roger graduated from Sweet Home High School in 1950.

He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1950 to 1954. He was trained as a radio operator, which took him all over Europe in the service of military officers. He saw a year of active duty in Korea. He left service with the rank of corporal.

Roger married Irma Mae Williams on May 14, 1955 in Sweet Home. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in May.

Roger was a lifelong musician, guitarist, composer, and singer with a smooth, melodious delivery well suited to his beloved country gospel. In his youth, he would perform for family holidays, much to everyone’s delight. He was proud to be Norwegian. Christmas Eve was not complete without lutefisk and lefse, and Swedish jokes. He was active for many years singing for area churches and performed at the Gospel Sunday/Sportsman’s Holiday services. He had a dry but witty sense of humor. He loved a series of collies, the last of which was by his side when he died.

Roger lived and worked in various local mills in Bend and Sweet Home, including Western Kraft in Albany. He retired after 10 years at the United States Post Office.

Roger was predeceased by his father, Martin Feigum, and mother, Laura Krogstad Feigum, both in 1972; sister, Lorraine Brekken, in 2004; and his beloved collie, Tina, in 2013.

He is survived by his wife, Irma; and children Susanne Feigum, Steven Feigum, Scott Feigum, Shellee Feigum Jones, Sterling Feigum, Stephanie Feigum Duvall, and Sheryl Feigum; sisters Doris “Dodie” Feigum, Penny Feigum, and Phyllis Feigum Davis; brother Robert Feigum; and 18 beautiful grandchildren, great grandchildren, sons-in-law, daughters-in- law, and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations can kindly be sent to further the music program at Harvest Christian Center, 4231 Long St., Sweet Home, OR 97367.
