Rodney Glen Keenon, 67, of Sweet Home passed away Wednesday at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis. He was born in Lebanon to Ken and Mildred (Hergert) Keenon, also of Sweet Home.

Rodney attended Sweet Home High School. He married Iris Kelly on April 19, 1963 in Butte, Montana. Rodney served in the United States Navy from 1965-1967, where he served in the Vietnam War. He then served in the Reserves until 1970.

After military service, he worked in the Cable TV industry in Sweet Home, Coos Bay, Charleston, Powers, and Myrtle Point. Rodney eventually started Ken-Kel Construction in Sweet Home. On June 22, 1989, he started working for Linn County Parks. He worked there for 17 years and retired in 2006.

He was an avid bow hunter and loved camping and fishing with his two sons and hunting buddies. He was a very social person. Every morning he would go to Skyline to enjoy his “roundtable” meetings after which he would go to Lester Sales to visit with Jim Philpott and the crew.

Rodney is survived by: his wife, Iris Keenon; sons, Ken (and his wife, Sheila) and Kelly (and his wife, Angie); brothers, Rich, Leonard, and Duane Keenon; sister, Caroline Berg; grandchildren, Bryce, Kolby, and Saige Keenon, Chris and Amber Barnes, Matt and Kristen Barnes, and Chelsea Miller; and three great grandsons, all of Sweet Home.

He was preceded in death by Ken and Mildred Keenon and brother, Larry Keenon.
