Roberta Irene Goddard was born Roberta Irene Roy in Southwest Maternity Hospital in Los Angeles, California on May 23, 1935. Her father was Russell Wilfred Roy, a Systems Analyst for Sunkist Citrus Products, and her mother was Margaretta Irene (Hamilton) Roy. Roberta grew up in Corona, CA and  was called “Bobbie” by most of her friends. She had a younger sister, Cherie, who was born when she was 10 years old. Bobbie attended UCLA in the late 1950’s, and graduated with a degree in Accounting. Roberta passed away in Albany, Oregon on October 17, 2023 at the age of 88 years.
 
Roberta married Darrell Earnest Goddard on May 5, 1962. Darrell was a World War II veteran, and worked in the restaurant industry. Darrell and Bobbie had three children, born between 1963 and 1967 – Russell, Kathryn, and Matthew. In 1972 the family moved up to Los Osos, in San Luis Obispo county on the Central Coast of California, where they raised their children to adulthood. Bobbie worked as an accountant for the City of San Luis Obispo, and eventually became an award-winning Director of Finance for the City.

Bobbie was a Christian dedicated to her savior, Jesus Christ. She and Darrell were dedicated to raising their children to know the Lord, and the family were always involved in the life of the church. She played the piano for worship in the church for many years. Music was one of her lifelong passions.
 
Bobbie is survived by her sister, Cherie, who lives in Klamath Falls, and by her middle child, Kathryn “Katy” Escott, who is married to Jeff Escott. They live in Livermore, California and have three grown children – Emily, Kyle, and Shelby Escott. She is also survived by her youngest child, Matthew “Matt” Goddard, who is married to Sarah Goddard. They live in Monterey, Tennessee. Another grandson, Chandler, lives in Phoenix, Arizona, and is the child of her late eldest son, Russell Goddard.

Bobbie was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell Goddard, in 2014 and by her eldest son, Russell Goddard, in 2019. Russell was married to Carol Goddard and their son, Chandler, was born in 2001.
