Ray Brown Hampton, 78, of Sweet Home passed Sunday. He was born in Waynesville, North Carolina to William C. and Lorina Frances (Stepp) Hampton.

He was born and raised in North Carolina and then moved to Georgia for three years. He moved to Oregon in 1955. He married Charlene Potter in 1961and together they moved to Netarts. In 1963 they moved to the Sweet Home area where they raised their family and have lived ever since.

Ray worked as a high climber and then as a timber faller his whole life.

He loved to hunt. He was a good man. Ray took care of his family and was a wonderful husband, father and brother. He loved God and knew the Bible.

Ray is survived by his children: Ray B. Hampton of Lebanon, Shannon Hampton, Kevin Hampton both of Sweet Home; sisters: Shirley Williamson of Dayton, Evelyn Allison of Bend; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Charlene; siblings: William, Hollis, Troy, James, Janette, Ernest and Roy Hampton.
