Phillip Eugene Edney, age 82, of Sweet Home died November 28, 2008. He was born on September 22, 1926 in Tonkawa, Oklahoma; the son of Phil and Verbadell (Williams) Edney.

Phillip lived in Oklahoma until he was eight years old, and then his family moved to Bend, Oregon. His family later settled in Sweet Home, where he lived the remainder of his life.

In high school, Phillip played football and boxed. He graduated from Sweet Home High School and went on to attend college for two years in Forest Grove.

He was a World War II Vet, serving in the Army, overseas. He also worked as a logger.

Phillip loved to be in the outdoors. After retirement, he and June loved to go fishing. Every year they would camp for about a week and go hunting. He loved to work on things and make broken things work again.

To know him was to love him. He will be greatly missed.

Phillip is survived by his wife, June; sons, Steve (from a previous marriage) and Bruce (wife, Susan); five grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was proceeded in death by his parents; sister, Juanita; son, Charles; and two infant grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., December 2, 2008 at the Church of the Nazarene in Sweet Home. Donations can be made to the Nazarene church.
