Paul D. Hyland, age 56, of Sweet Home, passed away on Saturday at the VA Hospital in Portland. He was born in Dublin, Ireland to John J. and Anne T. (White) Hyland.

He was a Corporal in the USMC/Marines. He was a Vietnam veteran serving there from 1969 – 1971. Afterwards Paul was disabled. Paul came to Sweet Home to support his wife in her endeavors at O.S.U. in 2004. Prior to this he resided in California for almost 30 years.

He emigrated with his family from Dublin, Ireland and was raised in East Cleveland, Ohio. He volunteered as a crisis intervention worker while in California. He kept himself active as an artisan. He enjoyed painting, reading books, listening to music, singing and good conversation. He was also involved in Mastiff rescue.

Paul is survived by his wife, Cindylou Hyland of Sweet Home; mother, Anne T. Hyland of Salem, Ohio; sister, Eileen Harvey of Maine; sister, Moira Neill of Stratford-Upon-Avon, UK; and his beloved English Mastiff, Sebastion.

He was preceded in death by his father, John J. Hyland.
