A will recitation of the Rosary will begin at 4:30 p.m., Saturday, November 7, at St Helens Catholic Church in Sweet Home. A funeral mass will begin at 5:30 following the Rosary.
Nellie Marie Markert, 72, of Sweet Home, Oregon passed away Wednesday, November 4. She was born in Dolington, Pennsylvania to James and Ruth Evelyn (Boyer) Sullivan.
She married John F. Markert on December 14, 1963 in Sweet Home. She was a member of St. Helens Catholic Church in Sweet Home.
Nellie was a speech and language therapist for the school district for many years. She enjoyed working with special needs children.
She enjoyed painting, crafts, singing, and walking. Nellie loved camping and the Oregon Coast.
Nellie is survived by: her husband of 52 years, John F. Markert, of Sweet Home; children John Markert of Lebanon, Patty Flynt of Hillsboro, Wade Markert of Roseburg, Anna Jewell of Poulsbo, Washington; brother James E. Sullivan of Seattle, Washington; sisters Ruth Mowry of Liberty, Pennsylvania, Mary Thompson of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Patricia Hatch of Sweet Home; and ten grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Boyer.
Memorial contributions can be made in Nellie’s name to Kids Food Pack program at Community Chapel.
