Max Coffield Thompson, 92, of Lebanon passed away Saturday. He was born in Grants Pass to Byron Cooley and Marcelle Dale (Coffield) Thompson.

Max was a very quiet man, whose family was very special to him.

He joined the United States Air Force, serving two years during the Korea War.

In 1954 he married Gerry Lanigan at St. Johns Episcopal Church in Milwaukie. They had three sons: Steven, Michael and Patrick.

Max was a City Manager for 23 years in three different cities: Milwaukie, La Grande and Sweet Home. He also sold Real Estate for 12 years before retiring.

He was very active in many organizations; Boy Scouts of America where he was a Scoutmaster for 80 boys, Milwaukie Junior Chamber of Commerce “Jaycees”, Rotary Club, Sweet Home Jamboree Management Committee and many more.

Max is survived by his wife Gerry; sons: Steven (Kim), Michael (Bobbie), Patrick; granddaughters: Kelsey, Lauren (Alan), Sara, Kristin (Ben); seven great grandchildren; brother Jerry (Kathy); and many nieces and nephews.
