Marion Lucille Cota passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, August 11, surrounded by her family. She was 91 years old.

Herschel F. and Ruby L. (Bynum) Trogdon brought Marion into the world on December 17, 1928 in Wasco California. She was their only daughter and was adored by her brothers Junior, Bob, and Baby Dale.

Marion grew up in Buena Park and enjoyed skating at the local rink, where she met her soulmate Joe Cota. Her first job was picking world-famous boysenberries at Knott’s Berry Farm where she soon was promoted to the kitchen serving 4000 chicken dinners every Sunday.

Marion and Joe were married in Yuma, Arizona on December 3, 1945. They remained in California in the dairy business until moving to Sweet Home, Oregon with their 6 children in 1963.

Marion enjoyed traveling, crocheting, camping, shopping with her girls and every minute spent with her family. Everyone was welcome to her home anytime, and nobody left hungry.

Joe and Marion were married 53 years when he passed away in 1999. She was also preceded in death by her daughters, Cheri Friesen and Lollee Braatz, son-in-law Mark Olsen and granddaughter Teresa Friesen-Idris.

Marion will be deeply missed by her children: Joe and Lucy Cota, Deana and Brad Kocan, Sue Olsen, Jim Cota and partner Karla Burcham; son-in-laws: Donnie Friesen and Rick Braatz; sister-in-law, Mona Trogdon, 13 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, countless nieces, nephews and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Sweet Home Senior Center.
