Marian E. Nelson, 89, of Sweet Home, died peacefully on March 21, 2020 at Willamette Springs Memory Care Home in Corvallis. She was born on February 6, 1931 in Mill City, Oregon the daughter of Russell and Ellen (Dehaven) King.

She married her high school sweetheart, Sonny Nelson, on August 20, 1950. Marian worked as a secretary and payroll clerk for Detroit Dam while it was being built. They lived in Mill City, then Tillamook for a short while, and eventually settled in Sweet Home. She worked as a secretary for a local mill until it’s closure, then became the business secretary for Sweet Home School District where she stayed until her retirement.

Marian loved to quilt and made sure that all of her children and grandchildren had samples of her beautiful work. She was also an avid golfer and traveler. She and Sonny travelled all over the world in their retirement years and would spend each Winter in Palm Springs soaking up the sun.

Marian is survived by daughters: Shirley and husband Jim Tack, Nancy and husband Joe Brocard, both of Sweet Home and Linda and husband Ken Postma of Cascade, Idaho. Also, six grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Marian was preceded in death by her husband Sonny and both parents.
