Lynda Irene (Summers) Kimball, 79, of Lebanon (formerly Sweet Home), passed away Monday, August 8, 2022, at the Evergreen Hospice House in Albany.
She was born, October 6, 1942, in Fall River Mills, CA to Floyd Logan and Muriel “Maxine” (Bidwell) Summers. She was raised in Fall River Mills where she graduated from Fall River Joint Unified High School in 1961. Lynda went on to graduate Cum Laude from Chico State College, in 1965, with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She had the honor of giving the student speech at the Nurse’s pinning ceremony and was a member of Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. She completed her Degree of Master of Science in Nursing, at the top of her class, at the University of Minnesota in 1967. While attending Chico State, Lynda met the love-of-her life, Jay Bryan Kimball. When she moved to Minnesota, for school, Jay followed her. The couple were married Sept. 5, 1966, in Chico, CA. They lived in Minnesota before moving to Buena Vista, CO to the Trail West Lodge Young Life Camp where Jay was the Camp Director and Lynda the Camp Nurse Supervisor. Their two children were born in Colorado. In 1973, they moved to Camp Tadmor, Lebanon, where they were again Camp Director and Camp Nurse. In 1973, they moved their family to Sweet Home. Lynda was a stay-at-home mom who volunteered as a Nurse for the Sweet Home Christian School (now East Linn), East Linn County Well-Child Clinics, and the Sweet Home School District. As a young woman, she liked to take care of her family, play with her children, tend her vegetable and flower gardens, decorate for church services, and go on picnics and outings.
After raising her children, she served as a SHEM (Sweet Home Emergency Ministries) Board member, a Friends of the Library Board member, on Sweet Homes’ World Day of Prayer Planning Committee, as a Sunday School teacher, and volunteered for the Oregon Jamboree. In addition to volunteering, Lynda loved to learn and took many classes at LBCC.
She loved being a grandma and spent many hours with her grandchildren giving them fond memories of spending time with her.
Lynda accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior, at an early age, and walked with Him her entire life. She was a charter member of her church, Cornerstone Fellowship, and forged many lifelong friendships there.
Lynda is survived by her daughter Sherrie and husband Michael Ingram of Sweet Home; son Bryan Kimball and wife Crystal of Lebanon: grandchildren Carter and Cole Kimball of Lebanon and Victoria, Adria, and Jacob Ingram of Sweet Home; great-granddaughter Prestlie Kimball, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her brother.
