October 10, 1931 – April 28, 2025

Louis Joseph Anjo, 93, of Sweet Home Oregon, went to be with his Lord on April 28, 2025. He was born on October 10, 1931 in Dulce, New Mexico to Mary (Mestas) and Joe Anjo.

As a teenager, Louie lived in Colorado and did farm work for the family that he lived with. At 15, he reported his age 2 years older so he could work in the mines. Later he learned the trade of brick Masonry and did many jobs for Paul Harmon. He traveled to Montana, Nebraska and New York for work.

Louie met Katherine Curby, his first wife, in Colorado, they were married 39 years before she passed away. When they moved to Oregon they settled in Sweet Home and Louie helped build the Foster Dam. In 1964 he was in an accident at the Foster Dam building site and was in the hospital for many months with a skull fracture. There are many buildings in Sweet Home, Eugene and Portland that Louie helped build. In 2002 he married Cori Bambach and continued to use his brick work skills as per Cori’s request. She preceded him in death in June 2013.

In retirement, Lou continued to work hard in his flower and vegetable garden and was accused of having “magic dirt”. He enjoyed listening to country music and gospel music. He could often be found watching an old Western TV show, live county music or WWF. He was a lifetime member of the Sweet Home Elks.

Louie had many friends, many step children, step nieces, nephews, step grandchildren, step great grandchildren and step great great grandchildren. He was dearly loved and will be missed by many.

A memorial service will be held 12:00 pm Saturday, May 31st at the Full Gospel Church at 2331 Main St, Sweet Home. Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling arrangements. www.sweethomefuneral.com.
