Lee Edward Cook, 99, of Sweet Home, passed away Sunday, March 10th, 2013. He was born April 15, 1913 in Choteau, Montana to Thomas B. and Jessie Myrtle (Giles) Cook.

Lee was not eligible for military service, but worked for Lockheed Aircraft Company throughout WW II as a P-38 “Lightning” assembly mechanic. After WW II, he moved with his father to Seattle, Washington. Lee worked for the Boeing Airplane Company from 1947 until he retired in 1977 and lived in Seattle until moving to Sweet Home with his wife, Ruth, in the early 1980’s.

He enjoyed his hobbies of cabinetry and woodworking, rockhounding and gardening (and always placed gardening as a high priority). Since his baptism in 1957, Lee was always involved with his church and looked out for the needy of the church.

Lee is survived by his nephew, Leland Reese of Stanwood, Washington; step-daughter, Joan M. Fix of Angels Camp, California; step-son Raymond D. Anderson of Lubbock, Texas; 8 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and 10 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Case Cook (1996); and sister, Lela Reese (2002).

No formal services are planned at this time. Contributions may be made in his name to the Community Services of the Sweet Home Seventh-day Adventist Church; or a charity of your choice.
