Kenneth G. Evans, 90, of Sweet Home died Wednesday February 9, 2011. He was born in Pekin, Illinois to Frank and Alma (Jost) Evans.

Ken was fascinated by airplines at an early age. He pedaled newspapers to pay for flying lessons and was flying before he could drive a car.

During WWII, he was stationed in Chickasha, Oklahoma serving as a Captain in the United States Army Airforce. Ken was one of the first flight instructors teaching Cadets to fly and perform acrobatic manuvers. He also flew the very first air transport cargo plane to the West Coast. Later, during the war, he taught Cadets instrument flying.

After WWII, Ken settled on the West Coast. Throughout his entire life, his passion, and often his occupation, was with aviation.

Like his father and grandfather, he became a Lifetime Member of AF & AM Masonic Empire Lodge #126, Pekin, Illinois.

Ken is surived by his wife, Betty, of Sweet Home and daughter, Terri Evans Krauska, of Redding, California.
