Born and raised in Northern California, Kathy was the second of four girls (Cheryl Pittman, Norma Brooks Karrasch, and Brenda Ielati) born to Edward and Marry Dick.
Kathy moved to Albany in the summer of 1994. She served the community as a lead teacher for Tangent’s Head Start, lead teacher at South Albany High School’s Child Development Center, and then for many years as a special education para educator in the elementary schools for the Greater Albany Public Schools.
Kathy is remembered by family and friends as a woman who lived simply, and gave generously. Kathy’s calling in life was to cultivate the health and wellbeing of young children. Her greatest joy was being a mother, foster parent, adoptive parent, and caring teacher to pre-school and elementary age children.
She is survived by her four children Holly (Brad) Hesselgrave, Josiah Goodin, Zachary Goodin, and Grace Luckenbill. Kathy adored her three grandchildren: Carter & Aurora Hesselgrave and Lizette Goodin.
After more than a year’s battle with brain cancer, Kathy is now in the loving arms of her Savior, hearing the words, “Well done, my good and faithful servant”.
