John P. Brennan, 80, of Sweet Home passed away Thursday. He was born in Lyons, Illinois to John Herbert and Emma (Jenson) Brennan. He was the 13th of 13 brothers and sisters

He was a Gunny Sgt. in the Marine Corps. John served from 1948 to 1978 during the Korean and Vietnam Wars.

John lived in many places in United States and Guam. He moved to Rogue River in 2003, and then to Sweet Home in 2004. He was a Lifetime Marine. He was also known as “Gunny” or “Pops” from working at the liquor store in town.

He loved games. puzzles. Yahtzee and poker were his favorites.

John is survived by: daughters, Lucia “Lu” Hogan and Phyllis S. Strehlow of Sweet Home; siblings, Herb, Ruth, Margorie, and Violet, all of Chicago Illinois; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren, all of California.
