A celebration of life will be held from 2:00 pm – 4:00 p.m., Sunday, January 17, in the Oregon State room at the Holiday Inn Express in Albany, next to the Linn County Fairgrounds, just off I-5.

John Loomis, 75, a resident of Albany, Oregon since 1976, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2015 at Samaritan Evergreen Hospice House in Albany. He was born in Burrillville, Rhode Island to Joseph and Mamie (Walker) Loomis.

John served in the Army in the early 60s. He married Carol Jean Hanna on February 14, 1980. John was a carpenter for several years, as well as a skilled machinist. He was very mechanically inclined and was always ready to help and give advice on projects. He enjoyed riding his Harley motorcycle in his younger years and often rode to events or worked on his motorcycle with his friends.

John and his wife, Carol, went on several cruises throughout the Mediterranean and South America, and had many wonderful memories they shared with family and friends. John enjoyed camping, fishing, and hunting. In his later years, he was able to drive around the country in their motorhome, enjoying retirement.

John was proceeded in death by his wife, Carol, who passed in 2012, and his parents. He is survived by his sister, Peggy Chappell, of Redlands, CA; brother, Walt Loomis, of Yuma, AZ; son, Michael Bootsma, of San Jacinto, CA; daughter, Tammy Webber, of San Jacinto, CA; stepson, Cris Hanna, of Albany, OR; and six grandchildren.
