John George Burke, 87, of Sweet Home passed away Friday, July 1. He was born in Fox, Alaska to John G. and Barbara (Herring) Burke.

John served in the Canadian Army in the Tank Corps during World War II. He moved to Sweet Home in 1993 and met Irene Brandt-Hipp. They married September 11, 1995.

John worked as a millwright in the construction trade.

He is survived by: sons, Ronald E. Hipp (and his wife, Janet) of Kennewick, Washington and Gerald (Jerry) Hipp (and his wife, Jeannie) of Pasco, Washington; daughter, Patricia D. Hipp-Lindemann (and her husband, Jim) of Lethbridge, Alberta Canada; sister-in-law, Vivian J. Brandt-Chelstad (and her husband, Gene) of Sweet Home; 12 grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

John was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Irene Brandt-Hipp-Burke.

Arrangements are under the direction of Sweet Home Funeral Chapel.
