Jerldeen May, age 79, of Sweet Home pased away Sunday. She was born in Carnigie, Oklahoma to Elvis L. and Martha May.

Jerldeen was handicapped from birth. She moved to California with her parents and family in the late 1940’s and lived there until the family moved to Culver, Oregon in 1953. The family moved to Sweet Home in 1960. She lived with her parents until her father passed away in 1972 and her mother passed away in 1973. She then lived with her brother and sister-in-law, Johnnie and Jaunita May, until Jerldeen’s passing on May 11.

Jerldeen attended Sweet Home Assembly of God Church with her parents and family. Jerldeen enjoyed making quilt blocks and small quilts. She also enjoyed coloring in her color books. She loved playing and nursing all the babies that came along in the family. She cared for them all as if they were her own.

She is survived by brothers, Luther May of Culver, Thurmon May of Dekalb, Texas, Johnnie May of Sweet Home, and Everett May of Ash Fork, Arizona; sisters, Dorotha Kyle of Bethany, Oklahoma, Levena Casey of LaGrande, Oregon, and Ruby Vanyi of Vader, Washington.

Jerldeen was preceded in death by her father, Elvis L. May, in 1972; mother, Martha May, in 1973; sisters, Harmon May, in 1921, and Pauline May, in 1928; and brothers, Arthur May, in 1937, and Elvis May Jr., in 1989.

A viewing will be from 11:00 a.m., to 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 14, at Sweet Home Funeral Chapel. Graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday at Gilliland Cemetery. Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling arrangements.
