Jean Tertrou, 59, of Sweet Home, Oregon passed away Thursday, September 17. He was born in Cuba to Georges “Pepo” and Gladys “Mema” (Marin) Tertrou.

When he was six, Jean immigrated to the United States with his family, settling in California where he was able to attend school and, later, enlist in the Army.

Jean married Debra Freese on December 21, 1998 in Woodinville, Washington. They moved to Sweet Home in 2008.

Working with heavy equipment was his employment until being injured many years ago.

He played the drums and enjoyed fishing, camping, and just being outdoors. He also liked dressing up as Santa at Christmas. Recently, he had purchased a home where he was able to set up his garage “just the way he wanted.” Watching NASCAR and the Pittsburgh Steelers were two of his favorite past times.

He is survived by: his wife, Debra Tertrou, of Sweet Home; daughter Crystal Tertrou of Las Vegas; step-sons Cody Duncan and Chad (Brandy) Duncan of Sweet Home; step-daughter Jamie Stokes of North Carolina; seven grandchildren, four sisters, and two brothers.

No services are planned at this time.

Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
