Jan Dwight McSilvers, 72, of Springfield passed away from a solo motorcycle accident on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, near the intersection of Highway 20 and 126 in the Cascade Mountains.

He was born on January 20, 1953, to John F. F. McSilvers and Clara B. (Cantrell) McSilvers in Los Angeles, California. He graduated from South Pasadena High School in 1971, and from Humboldt County, California Police Academy in 1979. He worked as a contractor for many years, known as Handy Jan.

He is survived by his spouse, Linda Pitts-McSilvers of Springfield, Oregon,
daughter Jessica McSilvers, son Michael McSilvers, and two brothers, James Cantrell and Jerry McSilvers. Jan was preceded in death by his father and mother, brother Jesse H. McSilvers, and one son, Brian McSilvers.

He died doing what he enjoyed most: riding a motorcycle.
