James Warner, 79, long-time resident of Sweet Home, Oregon, died in Bend Monday, August 28. He was born in Eugene to Orville and Ellen (Town) Warner.

He was a Sweet Home resident most of his life. He graduated from Sweet Home High School.

Jim worked at Santiam Mill, two years as a meat cutter, then as a supervisor at Willamette Industries Foster Division where he retired after 20 years. He spent 30 years on the Sweet Home Fire Department serving as an assistant chief and interim fire chief.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, bowling, and the Fireman’s Muster Team.

Jim is survived by his wife, Marge Warner, of Bend; daughter Sonia Taylor of Eugene; granddaughters: Jenny Lea of Bend, Kimberly and her husband, Thomas Namba, of Sandy, and Sara Vermillion of Molalla; long-time friend Dave and his wife, Kim Ego, of Prineville; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Orville and Ellen, and sister, Jeanette.
