James E. Namitz, 75, of Sweet Home, Oregon passed away Wednesday, December 17, at his home, surrounded by loved ones. He was born in Neberg, Oregon to Gerald and Grace (Landingham) Namitz.

At an early age, Jim and his family moved to Sweet Home where Jim attended school through his junior year of high school. After graduating from Prospect High School in 1958, Jim lived in Sweet Home, Nevada for one year, and Mill City, before serving in the US Army from February 1962 to February 1964.

Jim married Jill Osborn on March 28, 1964. They settled in Sweet Home and raised their two children. Jim worked for Haley Construction and Lebanon Logging until he retired.

Jim loved hunting, fishing, camping, and trips to Reno and the coast until health issues limited his activities. He then enjoyed playing cards, being with his family, friends and especially his grandchildren. Jim was a member of the Sweet Home Elks Lodge for over 50 years.

He is survived by: his wife, Jill Namitz, of Sweet Home; son, Jimmy Namitz, and daughter-in-law, Julie, of Albany; daughter, Julie Emmert, and son-in-law, Scott, of Sweet Home; brother, Lester Namitz, and sister-in-law, Suzie, of Lebanon; grandsons, Justin Namitz, Colton Emmert, and Drew Emmert; granddaughter, Janelle Namitz; and great grandson, Braiden. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Kenneth Namitz.

Contributions in Jim’s memory may be made to Safe Haven Humane Society or the Sweet Home Alumni Association in care of Sweet Home Funeral Chapel.
