Howard Leslie Lewis, 81, of Sweet Home, passed away Tuesday. He was born in Los Angeles, California to LeRoy Leslie and Elizabeth Emma (James) Lewis.

He served in the United States Navy from October 7, 1959 – September 29, 1961. He was stationed in Guam as a E-3. He served as a structural fire fighter.

Howard came to Oregon to help his parents design their homes and find water at the Old Holley Road property. He cut a willow stick and found a healthy vein of water and thats where the story begins.

He worked in construction. He built his own home in 1974 which he was still living in at his death.

Howard enjoyed wood working, gardening and stain glass.

He is survived by his daughter Leslie of Sweet Home; sisters: Dolly Miller of Lakeview and Caroline Flores of Colorado Springs, Colorado; 4 grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren.

Howard was preceded in death by his wife Pamela M. Howes Lewis.

Memorial service will be 12:00 pm, Saturday, January 14th at Sweet Home Evangelical Church.
