Gloria May Dyer, 94, of Albany, Oregon passed away Thursday, June 22, at the Mennonite Home. She was born in Sedalia, Missouri to Robert Sherman and Daisy May (Mann) Smith.

She was born in Sedalia and raised in Kansas City, Missouri with three brothers and one sister. Her heritage is Dutch, Scotch, Irish, and English. She took music lessons from her mother.

Gloria married Jed, and they moved from Kansas to Riverside Drive in Albany in 1949, where they raised their family. Gloria made clothes for her family and always sent them to school starched and pressed. She enjoyed raising the kids with Jed’s help and had fun with them. She always said, “I am well blessed with all my family and all my kids. I wouldn’t trade my life for anybody’s.” Her’s was a life of service.

She worked at Sunset Nursing Home in Albany as a CNA for 38 years. She was 81 when she retired. She loved her job and all the patients there.

Gloria enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and cooking. She is known for her spice cake, fried apple pies, chocolate frozen pies, and much more. She hosted all family holiday dinners.

She was baptized in 1949 at the Church of Christ.

Gloria is survived by her children, Virginia, Leon, and Patricia; daughters-in-law Lajane and Earleen; 21 grandchildren; and 24 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jed E. Dyer; son Jed E. Dyer, Jr.; her parents; all of her siblings; and son-in-law Larry Fuston.

Graveside service will be at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens.
