Frances Roberta Templeton, 84, of Sweet Home passed away Friday. She was born in Littlefork, Minnesota to John Francis and Lois Stewart (Griffith) Gordon.

Her family moved to Missouri in 1928, and then to Sweet Home in 1933. She lived and worked in Portland’s ship yards as a welder in 1943. She was a custodian at Sweet Home Junior High School in the 1970s.

Frances was an avid gardner. She could make anything grow and loved meeting her friends for coffee at McDonald’s to discuss how the world should turn. She loved to read, recite, and write poetry.

She believed in God and loved her family. She had a great sense of humor, loved life, and loved to laugh and make others laugh.

Frances is survived by: her husband, Dwight Templeton; children, Virgil (and his wife, Laurie) Zook, Debra (and her husband, Richard) Bowler, Vernon Zook, and Lisa (and her husband, Terry) Macklin; step-children, Gordon and Diane Templeton, Lois and Paul Folz, and Lesli and Doug Lampe; sister, Ada (and her husband, Tony) Dexheimer; sister-in-law, Pearl Marie Wheeler; 25 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by: her daughter, Saundra, in 1968; her sister, Claudia, in 1948; her step-sister, Olive; and her parents. She was followed in death by her husband, Dwight Templeton, on December 16, 2010.
