Frances M. Knueppel, 85, of Sweet Home passed away Thursday surrounded by her loving children. She was born in Pullman, Washington to Gerald and Lillian (Jolly) Powell.

Frances grew up in the Spokane/Pullman, Washington area. She taught herself to drive on the streets of San Francisco in 1947 while her husband, Royce, was in the Navy. She later moved to Portland Oregon for 50 years where she married John Knueppel. In 2001, she moved to beautiful Sweet Home for her retirement and enjoyed small-town living and the people of Sweet Home.

Frances was an account manager for 30 years at Blue Bell Potato Chip company of Portland. She was a member of the Teamsters Union Local #305 in Portland for 30 years.

She enjoyed her cats, Mr. Raggs and Miss Fancy, gardening in her yard, reading, and going on adventures with her son and daughter-in-law.

Frances is survived by: her children, Dave and his wife Lisa Herring of Sweet Home, Mary and her husband Harold Owens of Redding, California, Royce and his wife Linda Herring of Everett, Washington, Judy and her husband Charlie Christiansen of Portland; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by: her husbands, John Knueppel and Royce Herring; brother, Bob Powell; sisters,: Betty Stovall and Iris Skagg; and Lil’ Guy Knueppel.
