Frances Wright Hamilton, 86, passed away Monday February 26, 2024 surrounded by her family at her home in Lacomb. She was born Frances Thelma Wright in Logan, Utah, the oldest child of Francis “Frank” and Thelma (Cline) Wright. She was the wife of William Hamilton and the mother of nine children. In her second grade of school her family, with two younger sisters, moved from Logan to Pocatello, Idaho. Following the end of World War II, the family moved to Malta, Montana where Frank began an electrical contracting business. Frances graduated from Malta High School in 1956, and then graduated from Brigham Young University, in 1961.

After graduation, she and William “Bill” Hamilton were married August 4, 1961, in the Logan temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It was a double wedding along with her sister Edith and husband Arvin Wiltbank. Frances taught 1st grade in American Fork, Utah, as Bill finished his education at BYU. Thereafter, Frances enjoyed being a homemaker. Two of her children were born in Provo. For two years they lived in Salt Lake City and two more children were born. Then, in 1966, the family moved to Las Vegas, where Bill had grown up. Bill took employment as accounting manager at the Atomic Testing Site and, in Las Vegas, four more children were born.

In 1973 the Atomic Test Site was closing. Bill found employment in San Francisco and the family settled in the suburb of Pleasanton, California where, during the next 23 years, the children were raised. A ninth child was born in Pleasanton.

In 1996, at the age of 58, Frances and Bill retired to Lacomb, Oregon, where they have resided ever since. Frances is a life long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. As a college student she served as a missionary in the Northwestern States Mission in Montana. In Oregon she served for three years in the church as President of the Relief Society. Also, genealogy was more than a hobby. She served 20 years as a Family History Consultant.
