Edward T. Spencer, age 56, of Sweet Home passed away Friday. He was born in Sweet Home, Oregon to Troy and Verdine (Kilgore) Spencer.

He attended local schools until graduating from Sweet Home High School. He later attended OSU and studied Zoology. While attending OSU, he worked for Safeway. Edward made working at Safeway a career, working 39 years and retiring as a manager of the Sweet Home store.

Edward married Laree Bosh December 1968. Laree passed away in October of 1971. He married Susan Putney Nash November of 1975.

Many years ago, Edward was a member of the Jaycees in Albany and Sweet Home. He was a past president of the Sportsman Holiday Calapooia Roundup, board member of the Boys & Girls Club, treasurer of SHED, and also involved in the Rotary and Sweet Home Elks. He loved the Oregon Jamboree. In 2003, he was named Businessman of the Year.

Edward loved hunting, camping, golf, and the outdoors. He raised tropical fish. He started collecting stamps when his children were young and picked it up again with his grandson. He enjoyed trips to Reno and going to Bingo with his wife.

Edward is survived by his wife, Sue Spencer of Sweet Home; sons, Edward T., Jr., and his wife Teresa Spencer of Salem and Dennis J. and his wife Samantha Spencer of Sweet Home; sister, Loretta Fromcke of Sweet Home; close friends that he treated as his children, Aileen and Troy Lock of Sweet Home and Monique Trahan of Junction City; grandchildren, Olivia, Adana, Spenser, Caitlyn, Emrys, James, Paytton, Timmy, and Bella; six nieces and three nephews; close friends and family, Joe and Carloyn Care of Sweet Home, Barb Walker of Sweet Home, and Russ and Carline Putney of Bend.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Charlotte Lundstrom, and his parents.

A memorial service will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 26, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Sweet Home. Memorial contributions can be made in his memory to the Sweet Home Boys & Girls Club. Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling services.
