Viewing will be 2 – 4 pm Friday, March 7th at Sweet Home Funeral Chapel. Funeral service will be 11 am Saturday, March 8th at New Life in Christ Fellowship, 1266 44th Avenue, Sweet Home. Burial will follow at Gilliland Cemetery in Sweet Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be sent to Gospel Echoes Prison Ministry – Mercy Team. Douglas Del Hostetler, 64, of Springfield, passed away March 1, 2025. He was born March 21, 1960, in Lebanon to Marlene Kay (Zimmerman) and David L. Hostetler Jr. He passed away with his wife and son at his bedside from a ten year battle of cancer.
He and his brother, David III, accepted Christ as their personal Savior at age 10 and was baptized at Plainview Mennonite Church.
Doug graduated in 1978 from Western Mennonite High School in Salem. He went through schooling and an apprenticeship and became a journeyman electrician. He really loved to work and enjoyed being an electrician and later a project manager and estimator. He was good with numbers and would always say, “The numbers never lie.” He worked for Rite Way Electric in Albany, then Emerald Industrial Electric and Olsson Industrial Electric both in Eugene.
Doug was a fun loving man and loved to make people laugh. He loved fishing, and enjoyed all kinds of games. He liked working with wood and would even help Erica with her quilts.
Doug is survived by his wife of 31 years, Erica Hostetler; son, Kyle Everett; two grandchildren: Summer and Rogue; mother, Marlene Stutzman and stepfather, Mervin Stutzman. He was preceded in death by his father Dave Jr. and brother, David III.
