Dena Myers 11-15-1915 to 5-13-2012
Our kind, gentle, loving mother, Dena, was invited to peacefully join her Lord and Savior in heaven on Mother’s Day, May, 13, 2012 at the home of her daughter, Joyce Keeney, in Cascadia, Oregon.

Dena was born November 15, 1915 at Blachly, Oregon to Frank and Nina Starr. She attended elementary and high school in that area and graduated from Triangle Lake High School. On December 31, 1934, she married Frank Bottler of Portland. They continued to reside in the Blachly area, where Frank was employed in the logging industry. In 1942, they moved to Foster, Oregon where Frank continued to work as a logger until his death in a logging accident on August 1, 1957. Daughters Francine and Joyce were a product of this marriage.

On July 3, 1958, Dena married Horace Horan at Foster, Oregon and acquired step-children Leonard, Helen and May. After being involved in work associated in the logging industry, Horace drove a school bus the last two years before his death on August 26, 1970 from cancer.

On October 9, 1971, Dena married Earl Myers, also a product of the Blachly area and also involved in farming and mill work. They resided in Cheshire, Oregon and together enjoyed fishing, duck hunting and gardening. Earl also died of cancer.

Due to aging frailties, Dena moved to Cascadia to live with her daughter, Joyce, for the remainder of her years. Dena was a devout member of Franklin Christian Church where she served as Sunday School Superintendent and was active in the women’s group as well as being a nursing home volunteer.

Dena worked at various and sundry jobs in local businesses at Sweet Home, ending her working career as a cable-winder at White’s Electronic Metal Detector Manufacturer. She was always known for her pleasant smile, gentle disposition and willingness to help others. And her total dedication in the love of her Lord.

Dena is survived by: her daughters, Francine (Elmer) Morlok and Joyce Keeney; stepson, Leonard Horan; step-daughters, Helen Dornbusch and May (Marvin) Antrim; six grandchildren, six step-granddaughters, and a host of extended family and friends.

A memorial service in celebration of Dena’s life and triumphant passage into eternity will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, May 19, at Franklin Christian Church; 92072 Territorial Highway; Junction City, Oregon 97448. Memorials in her memory may be made to Franklin Christian Church or a charity of choice.

Arrangements are under the direction of Sweet Home Funeral Chapel.
