David Edward Stauffer

A memorial service for family and local community members will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2015 at 1:00 p.m., at the Sweet Home Evangelical Church. A celebration of life for his motorcycle “brothers” and families will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2015, 11:00 a.m., at the River Center in Lebanon with a processional for burial at Gilliland Cemetery in Sweet Home following the event.

David E. Stauffer, 67, passed away on Wednesday, March 18, at Evergreen Hospice in Albany, Oregon. He was born on November 22, 1947 in Upland, California to John Gurney and Beth Marie (Hosford) Stuaffer.

David lived in Round Mountain and Los Serranos, California. He graduated from Chino High School in 1965 and moved to the Holley area in Sweet Home in 1978.

David worked as a millwright at Smurfit Newsprint in Sweet Home for 25 years. During his lifetime, he worked as a sawyer, mechanic, welder, construction worker, tree climber/trimmer, and handyman ”jack of all trades.”

David loved riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycles and was the founding father of the Road Maggots Motorcycle Group. He participated with the group in toy runs and many fundraisers for those in need. He was also involved in the Food and Backpack Program for children in Lebanon.

David coached Little League Baseball for many years and also loved watching his children participate in sports. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, classic rock and roll music, watching westerns, and was a master at telling jokes. He cherished his family and was a loyal friend to many. David was “one of a kind” and will be missed greatly by all who loved him.

He is survived by: his wife, Lynn Stauffer; son David A. Stauffe, of Hubbard; daughter Trisha Stauffer-Van Eck (Jason) of Sweet Home; son Daniel E. Stauffer of Sweet Home; mother Beth Thorn of Redding, CA; sister Claudia (Stan) Petersen of Bella Vista, CA; brothers Huntley (Midge) Stauffer of Los Serranos, CA, Neal Stauffer (Martha) of Bella Vista, CA, Dwight Stauffer (MaryAnn) of Lebanon, OR; and grandchildren Taylor, Tanner, Riley, Jada, Aiden, and Bentley.

David was preceded in death by brother Bryan Stauffer (1969) and father John Stauffer,(1999).
