Charles Glenn De Shazer
July 28, 1946 – March 22, 2025
Charles “Chuck or Squeek” Glenn DeShazer was born July 28, 1946 to Louie and Eva DeShazer in Eugene, Oregon. Charles was called home to be with our Lord on March 22, 2025 in Albany, Oregon.
He attended grade school in Sweet Home and then the family moved to Montana and he attended high school in Great Falls. Chuck was a proud Veteran of the United States Navy, serving aboard the USS Topeka, where he followed in his father’s footsteps and was accepted into the Sacred Order of the Golden Dragon.
Chuck was a very private and humble man, never speaking of the commendation received for his assistance in an airline emergency while he was on leave. After leaving the Navy, he and the rest of his family moved to Coos Bay, Oregon, where he went to work for Georgia Pacific and Weyerhaeuser. Chuck was looking for a change and went to work for Sause Bros Ocean Towing. This allowed him to travel the world and he came home with stories for days. He also changed his home base and moved to Sweet Home, Oregon. Between his time in Lebanon and Sweet Home, Chuck lived in the Linn County area for over 45 years, making friends along the way. When Chuck finally retired he was the Assistant Engineer for Sause Bros. Chuck met his loving wife Kenna in 1992 on a blind date. They hit it off and married a year later. They were happy adventure buddies and enjoyed spending time together, whether they were driving a beautiful car, riding their Harleys or working on something together. They both always had some project they were working on. They collected memories and treasures along the way. Affectionately nicknamed Squeek in his late teens, Chuck loved anything with a motor. Hot rods, motorcycles, boats and sports cars all found a home with Chuck and if they were really special, a picture on his walls. Chuck spent his life improving every vehicle he owned. All were custom in some way. One of his favorites is the ’51 GMC truck that had been in the family for over 40 years. He was working on restoring it along with his family, especially his brother and nephews. The grin on his face lit up the sky the day they successfully fired the motor. Chuck played hard, but he loved even harder. His family and friends will miss his laugh, his teasing and the twinkle in his eye.
Chuck is survived by his wife, Kenna, daughter Dianna (Jeff), stepdaugher Lorena (Andrew), sister Joanne (Dennis), brother Don (Debbie), brother in law Butch (Sherri), sister in law Cheryl (Doug), lifelong friends Jerry and Linda Dean, nieces Becky (John) and Vicki, nephews Jason (Heather) and Louie, seven grandchildren, three great granddaughters. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, his granddaughter Rachel and his loving niece Rose Brett.
