A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 13, at Alsea Cemetery. A potluck gathering will follow the service at the Alsea Grange Hall.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Cal’s memory to the Alsea Volunteer Fire Department, Benton Hospice, or a charity of your choice.

Calvin “Cal” Clayton Bourne, 82, of Alsea, Oregon passed away peacefully at his home in Alsea Wednesday afternoon. Cal was born in Lookingglass, Oregon on April 26, 1934. He was the third child and the only son of Mary Ellen and Charles Edward Bourne.

Cal was a resident of Alsea for 53 years. During that time, he was a Resident Deputy Sheriff of Benton County and a logger and longtime truck driver. He was a man of many stories and lots of jokes. He was a great practical joker to all. He was an avid hunter and loved his trips to Eastern Oregon. He loved his children, but the greatest joys of his life were his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Cal was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley. He is survived by son Michael and his wife, Tami; daughters Kathleen Page and Cynthia Bourne; grandchildren Clayton, Holly and her husband, Kyle, Deanna, Lewis, Billy, and Preston and his wife, Kendra; great grandchildren Leeum, Elijah, Emma, Braiden, and Sophia; and his companion, Barbara Hagar, and her son and amazing caregiver and friend, Shawn Monroe.
