Bill G. Wright, age 81, of Sweet Home, passed away Saturday, December 24, 2007. He was born on July 18, 1926 in The Dalles, Oregon; the son of Mack J. and Juel S. Wright.

Bill entered the United States Army December 28, 1945 and served until January 16, 1948. He was awarded the Victory Metal.

Bill came to Sweet Home in 1947 and lived there until 1968, when he moved to Santa Ana, California. Bill retired in 1991 and returned to Sweet Home.

He worked at Santiam Mill. He also worked as a fry cook at Skyline Inn and Melody Lane. He was known for his “Great Steaks.” He volunteered as a cook with his sister, Joyce Maxwell, at the Senior Center. He attended Community Chapel and was a member of the Elks, Moose, and American Legion. Bill enjoyed bowling on a bowling league for many years. He also liked camping and the outdoors.

He is survived by two nieces, Celeste M. Glassley and Michele J. Gruwell, both of Sweet Home; three nephews: Lester and wife, Faith, Stoddard of Silverdale, Washington; Kelly and wife, Debbie, Stoddard of Port Orchard, Washington; and Ronald and wife, Wynette, Wright of Battleground, Washington; three great nieces and four great nephews; and three great great nieces and four great great nephews.

Bill’s sister, Joyce Stoddard Maxwell, and his brothers, Robert Kline, Earl Kline, and Donald Wright, preceded him in death.
