Bettie Grace Zera, 84, of Sweet Home passed away February 13, 2012. She was born in Alameda, California to John Arthur and Grace Ellen (Whitlock) Leslie.
Bettie graduated from McClatchy High School in Sacramento, California. In the early 1980s, she moved from Auburn, California to Florence, Oregon, and then moved to Sweet Home in 2004. Bettie worked as a store clerk for Safeway stores. She was a member of the UFCW Union of Northern California.
Bettie loved being a homemaker and enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, cooking, and gardening. She enjoyed fishing and traveling in her motorhome. She passed on to her children and all her offspring exemplary morals and values. Her family was truly blessed.
Bettie is survived by: her daughter, Sandra J. Skillman of Sweet Home; granddaughters, Valerie Montalvo, Jennifer Bolton, and Jessica Avilla; grandsons, James Thiel, Jr., William Saddler, Michael Sullivan, Jr., Jeffery Gibson, and Kyle Strong; and eleven great grandchildren (Brittany, Alex, Lauren, Natalie, Eliana, Juliana, Jackson, Jeremiah, Micah, Lucien, and Mila).
She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, John Zera; husband William M. Wilson, Sr.; son, William M. Wilson, Jr.; daughter, Valerie Strong; brothers, Arthur and Harold Leslie; and sister, Doris Counter.
Graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 12, 2012 at Gilliland Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Sweet Home Funeral Chapel.
