Barbara Teresa Johnson, 100, of Lebanon fell asleep in death on Wednesday. She was born in Meadow, South Dakota to John and Rosina (Volk) Schell.

She graduated from high school in 1930 and was a school teacher in South Dakota for 12 years. In March of 1933, she married Arthur Johnson in South Dakota. They moved their family to Sweet Home in 1951. She worked in the canneries from 1960 until retirement.

Barbara loved to sew and make quilts. She enjoyed spending time with family. She was a member of the Jehovah’s Witness Faith.

She is survived by: children, Harvey (and his wife, Sharon) Johnson of Ocean Park, Washington, Rayden (and his wife, Lauradell) Johnson o f Sweet Home, Owen (and his wife, Willa Mae) Johnson of Tazewell, Tennessee, Una (and her husband, Mike) Crowell of Salem, Marla (and her husband, Richard) Pruitt of Klamath Falls, Nancy (and her husband, Don) Frick of Sweet Home; brother, Jim Schell of Lemon, South Dakota; sister, Marie Hoff of Lemon, South Dakota; 15 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and four great, great grandchildren.

Barbara was preceded in death by: her husband, Arthur Johnson, in 1999; sons, Waldo Johnson in 1967 and Roger Johnson in 2008; four sisters; and two brothers.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 29, 2011 at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witneses, 4714 Highway 20, Sweet Home, Oregon.

Memorial contributions can be made in Barbara’s name to Meals on Wheels in Sweet Home.
