Anita Catherine Lewis, 87, of Sweet Home passed away Sunday, March 1, 2026. She was born August 20, 1938 to Reginald and Muriel (Peg) Harrison in Cardiff Wales.

She grew up in Grangetown with her sisters Tony and Joyce. Much later, her brother Richard, and little sister Josephine came. She met her best friend for life, Elizabeth at 3 years old. The family moved to LLanrumney as teenagers.

Anita graduated from Cathays High School and then went on to nursing school. She worked long hours. While doing on the job training at LLandough Hospital, Anita joined the LDS church. When she had finished school, Anita went on a mission in Wales. After her mission was complete, a sponsor paid for her to come to the United States to work. She then moved to Salt Lake City where she worked as a personal nurse.

Anita met Bill Lewis, who was going to the University of Utah and they married in 1965. After Bill finished school they moved to Newport, Oregon for several years before moving to Sweet Home where Bill grew up.

Bill and Anita had 3 children, David, Richard and Bronwyn. The family lived in Sweet Home until moving to Albany in 1980.

Anita was actively involved with Oregon literacy program. She helped many adults learn to read. She also taught classes for modeling and poise.

Bill and Anita returned to Sweet Home in the early 1990’s, moving into Bill’s childhood home. They liked to help people and invited many people to stay in their home. The house was always busy.

Anita was very artistic. She loved oil painting, watercolors, and making cards for all occasions. She especially loved helping her primary school children with art.

Anita is survived by her children: David Lewis, Richard Lewis, his wife Heidi, Bronwyn Lewis and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Anita was preceded in death by her husband Bill in 2025, parents Reg and Peg, and brother Richard.
