Albert Edgar Cowan, 97, of Sweet Home, Oregon passed away Wednesday, June 6, at his Wiley Creek home. He was born in Birch Tree, Missouri to LeRoy and Anna Mae (Larrew) Cowan. He celebrated his first birthday in a covered wagon on the way to Colorado.

At the age of 19, he moved with this family to Oregon City. He married Beulah King on March 4, 1945 in Hubbard and settled in Sweet Home in 1948.

Dad worked at a service station and a dairy before he began his logging career. He drove for various logging companies, later purchasing his own trucks to be self employed. Dad loved to raise animals, especially cows, to feed his family. He was known as the neighborhood veterinarian. Dad was also known for his large gardens and plowing up ground for others, so they, too, could grow vegetables. Dad loved to work!

Dad’s generous heart was known to all by how he helped, served, and was present for others in time of need. We rejoice that he is now living in the presence and generosity of his Savior!

Albert is survived by his children: Terry (Karen) Cowan, Cheryl (Tony) Kowalczik, Keith (Jeanne) Cowan, Alan (Julie) Cowan, Carlene (Dan) Dettwyler; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Beulah, parents, and sisters, Ruth Krehbiel and Betty Lehman.
