Douglas, “Dougie”, “Doug”, or “Spicoli”, a man who spent forty-four years successfully dodging boredom and safety regulations, officially "retired" from this life on May 7, 2026. Born on December 18, 1982, in Lancaster, California, to Ross Stubbings and Teresa “Terry” Adair Goodpaster, Doug made it clear from infancy that he was not afraid of anything—including basic physics. His early career as a self-appointed crash-test dummy involved pedaling his tricycle at top speed into the family garage door. He would emerge from the wreckage laughing, only to do it again. Doug’s childhood was marked by a series of legendary "educational experiments," such as the time he and a neighborhood accomplice decided the house needed a subterranean swimming pool and left the garden hose running under the foundation all day.

He also dabbled in ballistic agriculture, having co-engineered a potato gun that—miraculously—never resulted in any major lawsuits or injuries. He brought that same "calculated" exuberance to the rink, playing a mean game of hockey. As a goalie, Doug viewed the crease as a mere suggestion rather than a boundary, frequently charging incoming opponents to get that puck. When he wasn't skating, he was saving lives as a certified lifeguard or risking his own on a skateboard—a duality that perfectly captured his spirit.

Doug eventually traded the hockey stick for a chef’s knife, moving to Santa Rosa, CA, where he discovered a genuine passion for technical culinary precision. He flourished in the high-pressure environment of professional kitchens, proving he could handle the heat as long as he was in charge of the stove.

He spent a great deal of time hanging with his Mom, stepdad Greg Darcy, and stepbrother Matthew Darcy. After a stint in Eugene, Oregon—a graduate of Willamette High School—and some time spent kayaking the Oregon coast and rivers, Doug eventually made his way to Sweet Home, OR, to be near his mother and stepdad.

Though he was a formidable presence in the kitchen and on the ice, he was a total softie for his nieces and nephews, who were the only people capable of out-maneuvering him.

Doug is survived by his mother and stepdad, Terry and Kerry Goodpaster; his uncle Tom Adair (and "better half" Linda Krenicky); his aunt Therese Adair; his uncle-in-law Robert (Sherry) Cooper, and his former stepdad Greg Darcy. He leaves behind a small army of cousins, nieces, and nephews: Sarah (Andre), Aubry (Tyler), Emery (Casey), Melinda (Jay), Elijah, Gaddy, Ben, Matthew, Andre Jr., Mateo, Ariana, Uriah, Finley, Penelope, Lulu, and Sunday. And not to be forgotten, he leaves behind his second mom, Renee (John) Robles. He is preceded in death by his father, Ross Stubbings; grandparents, Bill and Dolores Adair and Frank and Madeline Stubbings; his step-grandpa, Bob Cooper; and his dear uncle, Ray Adair.

His many friends remained close to his heart until the very end, and the family is deeply grateful for the love they showed him. Instead of a somber silence, please consider performing a random act of good humor or attempting a culinary masterpiece in his honor. "Those we love don't go away; they walk beside us every day.”

Emilio Gallardo Morales, 55, of Lebanon passed away Thursday, April 23, 2026.
He was born on November 16th, 1970, in Córdoba, Mexico, to his parents, Emilio Gallardo Martinez and Carmela Morales Mesa.

He grew up helping his parents farm coffee, corn, rice and sugarcane. As a young man, he immigrated to the United States and eventually settled in Oregon. He taught himself English and studied hard to obtain his citizenship. He married Trena Olson and became a father to her young daughter, Shaina. They later had two more daughters, Nicolina and Shiana.

Emilio was known as a hardworking man who took great pride in providing for his family. He dedicated nearly 30 years of employment to Weyerhaeuser.

In his free time, he kept himself busy with bowling league, landscaping his beautiful two-acre property and many woodworking projects. His family's home is filled with his one-of-a-kind handmade creations.

Emilio was also a goofball who loved to joke around. Without fail, you could catch him hiding extra cards on family game night. He truly was the life of the party, hosting family events with good food, good laughs and piñatas. Good luck hitting the piñata though! Emilio would send it flying high in the air, and dragging low on the ground! Nothing made him happier than making everyone laugh. Beyond that, he was incredibly kind-hearted. He was generous in nature and always offered a helping hand. In short, he was a true friend and family man to all, and will be missed by everyone around him.

He is survived by his wife, Trena Gallardo; his daughters, Nicolina Gibbs and Shiana Gallardo; his grandchildren, Miguel, Sofia, Amelia, Carmen, Corbyn and Freyja; and his mother and siblings Raul, Juan Carlos, Leticia and Bulmaro. He was preceded in death by his father, his father-in-law Gordon and his stepdaughter Shaina.

The Rosary will be 10:30 AM on June 27th, 2026 at St. Helen Catholic Church in Sweet Home, with the funeral to follow at 11 AM. A celebration of life will be held at 11 AM on August 1st, 2026 at the Sweet Home Elks Lodge. Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling arrangements. www.sweethomefuneral.com

Edward E. Winkler, 86, of Sweet Home passed away Saturday, April 18, 2026, after an extended period of poor health. Ed was born on March 12, 1940 in Albany, Oregon to Winifred I. and Jessie Marie (Myer) Winkler. The family lived in Sweet Home for most of Ed’s growing up years. He graduated from Sweet Home High School in 1958.

He enlisted in the Air Force and served at Beal Air Force Base in northern California as a cook for four years. It was during this time that he married Loretta Sue O’Neill and they returned to Sweet Home. Ed then began his decades long career as a truck driver, usually hauling logs. In addition to truck driving he also loved guns and motorcycles, of which he owned many throughout his life, including two Harleys of which he was very proud. And he loved Sweet Home wrestling. He spent many evenings sitting on the bottom row of the high school bleachers with his buddies watching the Huskies and celebrating their many wins with them. He was a jovial guy with a great sense of humor and loved making people laugh.

He is survived by his son Dean Winkler and brother Rick Burnett and wife Alice of Sweet Home; sister Winnie Robertson and husband Ken of LaQuinta, CA; grandchildren: Whitney Spenst and Dustin Winkler of Sweet Home, Kelsey Schultz of Albany, Samantha Flores of Hillsboro; and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather Red Burnett, daughters: Dawn Winkler and Tina Winkler, brother Joe Winkler, and nephew Keegan Burnett.

A viewing will be 5 pm to 7 pm, Monday April 27th at Sweet Home Funeral Chapel. Graveside service with military honors will be 12 pm, Tuesday, April 28th at Alpine Cemetery. A celebration of life will be 12 pm, Wednesday, April 29th at Sweet Home Evangelical Church. Both services are open to all who would like to attend. Memorial contributions can be made in his name to Sweet Home Wrestling. Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling arrangements. www.sweethomefuneral.com.

Vicki Lynn Leach, 57, of Sweet Home, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2026 after a courageous seven-year battle with ALS. She was born on January 20, 1969, in Lebanon.

Vicki remained deeply connected to the community she called home throughout her life. Vicki was a devoted wife, mother, and friend whose strength, kindness, and love touched everyone who knew her. Throughout her illness, she faced each day with resilience and grace, inspiring those around her with her courage.

She dedicated 25 years of service to the Oregon Department of Forestry, where she worked as a dispatcher and played a vital role in supporting wildfire crews by coordinating and running food services on multiple fires over the years. Her work placed her at the heart of Oregon’s wildfire response community, where she was respected and appreciated by many.

Vicki also gave back generously to her community, volunteering for 25 years with the Oregon Jamboree. She was a familiar and valued presence at the event until ALS forced her to step away, something she did with the same quiet strength that defined her life.

She is survived by her loving husband, Alvie Leach; her mother: Roberta “Bobbi”; her children, Tiffini, Phillip, Marcus, and Emily; grandchildren: Grayden, Gabriella, Hayden, Isabelle, Perry, Kate, Lincoln, Michael, Noah, Oz; who were the center of her world. She was preceded in death by her nephew that she raised, Tristan (2009). Her family will forever cherish her unwavering love, guidance, and the countless memories they shared together.

Vicki will be remembered for her warm heart, her dedication to her family and community, and the steady, giving spirit she carried into everything she did. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched and the love she gave so freely. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.

A celebration of life will be 12 pm, Saturday, April 18, 2026 at the Sweet Home VFW. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her memory to ALS research. Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling arrangements. www.sweethomefuneral.com
