Wayne Leon Gerard, age 82, of Lebanon passed away Tuesday, August 19, 2008. He was born in Quapaw, Oklahoma to John Greyson and Dona Inez (Harmon) Gerard.

Wayne entered the Navy March 27, 1943 and was discharged January 21, 1946. He received the European-African, ME, Area Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Area Campaign Medal, American Area Campaign Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal.

Wayne came to Oregon from Oklahoma in 1928 and settled in Lebanon in 1992. He worked at Pop’s Branding Iron in Albany until his retirement. He was a member of American Legion Post 51. He loved music, reading, writing, sports, and his family.

Wayne is survived by his daughters, Diana Gerard of Albany, Cindy Davis of Lebanon, Shelley Gerard of Oklahoma, Julie Lytle of Lebanon; sons, Monte Gerard of Sweet Home, and Edward and Casey Gerard of Lebanon; 14 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and one great, great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith, and daughter, Gwen Wylie.

A viewing will be at 4:00-7:00 p.m., Friday, August 22, at Sweet Home Funeral Chapel. A funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 23, at Gilliland Cemetery. Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling services.
