Walter Leroy Ross JR, 72, of Sweet Home passed away Wednesday. Walter was born on April 19, 1944 in Akron, Colorado the son of Walter Leroy and Helen Irene (Johnson) Ross SR.
He came to Sweet Home in 1945. Walter served in the U.S. Army from September 1961 – September 1967.
Walter worked at Cladwood in Sweet Home and Willamette Industries in Foster.
He was a member Sweet Home Elks Lodge, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Lost Dutchman’s Mining Association and National Riffle Association. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, gold prospecting and his beloved dog “Scout.” He was baptized into the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He is survived by sisters, Darlene Thompson and husband Shain of Sweet Home, Carolyn Wheeler and husband Guy of Brownsville; nieces, Darla Carter and husband Ron of Sweet Home, Debbie Yeack and husband Tom of Brownsville and Angela Krause and husband Steve of Lebanon; nephews Brad Wheeler and wife Ely of Lebanon and Mike Thompson of Sweet Home; special friend and neighbor: Steve Lincoln. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, John E. Ross in 2016
