Vernon Eugene “Buz” Sutton, Jr., 64, of Sweet Home passed away Thursday. He was born in Vallejo, California to Vernon (Sr.) and Lily Jean (Erickson) Sutton.

Buz resided in Riddle until graduating from Riddle High School in 1966. After graduation, he served in the US Navy until 1993. He lived a year in Oklahoma before moving to Albany in 1994. He moved to Sodaville and lived there until 2007 when he moved to Sweet Home.

Buz worked for Pacific Cast Tech for fifteen years. He belonged to the Church of Christ for many years until he attended the Holley Church. Buz enjoyed reading, camping, fishing, cooking, wood carving, and people.

He is survived by: his wife, Susan O’Donnell Sutton of Sweet Home; children, Erik Sutton (and wife, Michelle) of Georgia, Amy Sutton Hinton (and husband, Russell) of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and stepson Brody Johnson of Sweet Home; sisters, Sylvia Nichols (and husband, Ken) of Roseburg and Liz Risseeuw (and husband, Lonnie) of Roseburg; grandchildren, Michael, Ashley, and Harris Sutton; four nieces and nephews; and special great niece, Chandra Risseeuw of Albany.

Contributions may be made in Buz’s memory to the Veterans Association or the college fund for Brody Johnson.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., Saturday, December 1, 2012 at Buz’s home.

Arrangements are under the direction of Sweet Home Funeral Chapel.
