Vanora Rose Smith, 79, of Sweet Home passed away Monday. She was born in Tecumseh, Nebraska to Edward and Bell (West) Lunsford.

She was the 13th out of 15 children. Her family farmed in Nebraska and Oregon during her childhood. She lived in Lakewood, California for 26 years before coming to Sweet Home.

Vanora enjoyed growing roses and making her yard beautiful. She loved to write poems. She was a great story teller and jokester. Vanora loved having good times with her family and sharing her history as she looked at pictures and reminisced. Her family will remember her wonderful Christmas candies and treats that she shared with everyone.

She is survived by: her husband, Richard Smith of Sweet Home; brother, Dick Lunsford of Brownsville; children,: Tom Guinn and Karen Fisher of Victorville, California, and Jana Seaman of Big Bear Lake, California; nine grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Vanora was preceded in death by her son, Gary Murphy, and 13 siblings.

Arrangements are under the direction of Sweet Home Funeral Chapel.
