Thomas Owen Young, 86, of Sweet Home, Oregon passed away Friday, August 19. He was born in Gravel Switch, Kentucky to Sylvester and Ruth Mae (Lane) Young.

He served in the United Sates Army B Company 231st Eng. from 1951 to 1953 and participated in nuclear tests in Nevada.

Thomas was an HVACR technician for fifty years. He resided in the Banks area for 30 years prior to moving to Sweet Home in 1999. He was a lifetime member of the Elks Lodge.

He enjoyed fishing, watercolors, gardening, traveling, reading Westerns and other novels, and being with his family.

Thomas is survived by his wife, Eleanor; son Steve and wife Faith; daughter Linda and husband Brad; granddaughters Nicole and Kristen; brothers Melvin and Ray of Kentucky; and many nieces and nephews in Kentucky and Tennessee.

Thomas requested no service. A private family Celebration of Life will be held later. Memorial contributions can be made in Thomas’s name to the Sweet Home Elks Lodge.
